Our Team

Steve Brown, CPA

Steve Brown, Nashville’s Managing Member, is an accounting graduate of Western Kentucky University, who later received his Masters of Accountancy from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Upon receiving his Masters, Steve entered the working world at Deloitte & Touche. While at Deloitte & Touche, Steve worked with both public and private clients, primarily focusing on manufacturing clients.

Upon leaving Deloitte & Touche, Steve worked with Corrections Corporation of America and Spheris Inc. as the Director of SEC Reporting at both companies, as well as with Video Gaming Technologies, Inc as the Controller. In addition to extensive experience with SEC reporting requirements, his responsibilities at these companies included financial statement preparation, month-end close, internal control review, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, accounting research, and tax and audit compliance.

Steve is a CPA in both Tennessee and Kentucky with over 20 years of experience. He also is a member of the Tennessee Society of CPAs (“TSCPA”) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (“AICPA”). In 2007 Steve was named the Western Kentucky University Outstanding Recent Accounting Alumnus. Steve also serves on the board of Onyx Insurance Company, Inc, a risk retention group, and is the Treasurer of the Beech High School Swim Club, a local non-profit organization.

Martin Maguire, CPA

Martin Maguire, Columbia’s Managing Member, is a graduate of Southern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Martin has over 25 years experience in both public accounting and industry. He has worked in both a regional and national accounting firm. In addition, he has served as the CFO of a mid-sized general contractor. He has co-authored 2 articles, which were published in the Journal of Construction Accounting and Taxation. Martin consults with clients to assist in the development of internal control and accounting systems for monthly and annual reporting. He specializes in serving small to mid-sized closely held companies in both audit and tax services

Martin is a CPA in Tennessee. He is a member of the TSCPA and the AICPA. In 2013, Martin was elected to serve on the board of directors of Community First Bank & Trust, a local community bank in Columbia, Tennessee. Martin also serves on the board of directors of a local non-profit organization and as treasurer for his church.

Katrina Bosheers

Katrina Bosheers was the Office Manager at A.D. Regeon & Associates for 5 years before coming to Brown and Maguire. Preparing municipal and county business tax returns and general bookkeeping are included in her tax and accounting background. She has an Associates of Applied Science from Columbia State Community College. Katrina began her career working in the accounting departments at various automobile dealerships in Lawrence, Maury and Giles counties. She enjoys spending time with her family and reading.

John La'Gere, CPA

John La’Gere is a graduate of the State University of New York with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He has over 25 years of experience in public accounting and over 30 years in management. John has extensive knowledge in the areas in Individual, Corporate, LLC and Partnership Tax. He also has provided all levels of service in Financial Statement Preparation and Bookkeeping. He has helped Non-Profit Organizations, Manufacturing, Service and Construction businesses. He is licensed in Tennessee and Oregon and is a member of the American Society of Certified Public Accountants.

John spent his early years in management and leadership positions in the Service industry. He helped run restaurants, movie theatres and at one time. a modeling agency on Fifth Avenue. Once he obtained his accounting degree, went to work in public practice in the Portland, Oregon area where he learned the value of that experience. Owners, bookkeepers, and clients appreciate the understanding a CPA with a full background can provide to meet their needs. He moved to Tennessee in 2015 to be closer to family and enjoy the history-rich southern living Nashville has to offer.

Makayla Hyche

Makayla studied accounting at The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Al. After interning in the engineering industry and graduating with a B.S. in Accounting in 2019, she moved to Nashville to work in corporate accounting at HCA Healthcare Physician Services Group. She worked in healthcare accounting for 3 years before joining Brown and Maguire as a bookkeeper in 2023. Outside of work Makayla enjoys visiting local nature trails and parks and going on weekend road trips.

Stephanie Jones

Stephanie is responsible for hospitality, client back-office bookkeeping, financial reporting, preparation of sales tax returns and payroll for multiple clients. Stephanie has over 12 years of experience in office administration and 2+ years of experience managing the financials of multiple small businesses. Most recently, Stephanie was an Office Manager for a group of several companies, responsible for bookkeeping and cash management. Prior to the Office Management role, Stephanie worked for Opry Mills leasing management office where she worked on tenant sales tracking, cash management, training, and special projects. She is a 2009 graduate of Belmont University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. Stephanie is an avid salsa dancer and loves people.

Dan Kinder

Dan comes to Brown & Maguire from Video Gaming Technologies where he spent the last 11 years as an Accounting Supervisor where he was heavily involved in month-end close, reporting and internal audits. Before that he supervised Accounts Payable and Fixed Assets at Spheris for 4 years. All together he has over 19 years of experience in Accounting and Banking. He has a double major BA degree from Lipscomb University in Finance and Economics.

Mac Maguire

Mac Maguire is a staff accountant at Brown & Maguire’s Nashville office. Before he started in 2019, he earned both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in accounting from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. During his time in college he worked in various industries including architecture, general contracting, and tax accounting for trusts. His role at Brown & Maguire consists of bookkeeping, auditing, and tax preparation. While out of the office he enjoys reading, hiking, and podcasting.

Rachel McCrary, EA

Rachel is an Enrolled Agent (EA) with over 15 years of experience, who oversees the Goodlettsville office. Rachel has held the designation of Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor each year since 2005 and provides clients with QuickBooks training and support. Rachel is certified in both QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online software. She supervises our accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll services. In addition, she is responsible for the preparation of individual, corporation, partnership and LLC tax returns. Rachel is a 2005 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, where she majored in Accounting with a minor in Business Administration.

Joyce Redden

Joyce Redden comes to Brown & Maguire, CPAs, PLLC from Stanton & Associates, where she served as Office Manager for eight years. Her tax and accounting background has included assisting in the preparation of individual and business tax returns, as well as serving as a bookkeeper and handling payroll for numerous clients.

Joyce has a Master of Science Degree in Communication from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Tennessee Tech University. She has over 30 years of experience in communications, marketing and public relations, and holds an accreditation in public relations (APR) by the Public Relations Society of America. She began her career as editor of the Hendersonville Star News in Hendersonville, TN. A former PR consultant, Joyce has also worked for various corporations in the Nashville area, including Ingram Industries Inc., and American General (National Life and Accident Insurance Company). Her career has also included teaching at the community college level as an adjunct instructor in communications at Volunteer State Community College. Joyce has been involved in various volunteer organizations including the Nashville Symphony Guild, where she served a two-year term as president and was a board member for five years.

Nadeen Tatum

Nadeen Tatum is a staff accountant with 30 years experience in public accounting. Her responsibilities are primarily focused in bookkeeping assistance, financial statement preparation, payroll tax compliance, and individual and business tax return preparation. She serves on the board of directors of her HOA and enjoys reading and antiquing.
